Cookie Policy

Last updated: 10 April 2026 · Applies to lirabetaff.com

This Cookie Policy describes how lirabetaff.com (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal data may be processed more broadly. We aim to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) as they apply in the United Kingdom, alongside UK GDPR transparency requirements. Cookies are small text files or equivalent pieces of data that a website stores on your device or reads from storage APIs your browser exposes. They can be “first-party” (set by us) or “third-party” (set by another domain, for example if we ever embed external tools). They can also be “session” cookies, which expire when you close the browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain for a defined period unless deleted.

Why we use storage technologies

We use a minimal set of technologies to: (1) remember whether you have confirmed you are aged 18 or over during the current browser session, so we do not repeatedly interrupt reading; (2) remember whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies through our banner, so we can respect your choice on return visits; (3) maintain basic security and load-balancing where our hosting stack relies on short-lived technical cookies; and (4) diagnose technical faults if diagnostic endpoints are temporarily enabled. We do not use cookies to sell advertising inventory on this Site or to build cross-site behavioural profiles for unrelated marketing.

Categories of cookies and storage

Strictly necessary. These items are required for core functionality such as displaying the age gate, honouring your cookie decision, or protecting against common web attacks. They are generally exempt from consent under PECR where they are truly essential to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. Disabling them through browser settings may cause parts of the Site to behave unpredictably.

Preferences. Where we store a flag indicating acceptance or rejection of optional features, that storage is treated as preference data. Rejection is itself stored so the banner does not reappear on every page view in a way that disregards your decision.

Analytics (optional). If we introduce first-party or privacy-preserving analytics in the future, we will list each cookie name, purpose, provider, and retention period here and, where consent is required, we will gate deployment behind the cookie banner. Until such time, you should assume no non-essential analytics cookies are intentionally deployed.

Affiliate attribution. Outbound links to operators may append query parameters that help the destination attribute traffic. Those parameters travel to the operator’s domain; they are not cookies set by us on your device. The operator’s cookie policy governs what happens after you click.

Local storage and session storage

In addition to traditional cookies, we may use the Web Storage API. Session storage can hold a transient “age verified” marker that disappears when the tab or browser session ends. Local storage may retain a simple string such as “accepted” or “rejected” relating to cookies. These mechanisms are functionally similar to cookies for regulatory purposes and are covered by this Policy.

How long data persists

Session storage entries clear when the session ends unless your browser is configured to restore sessions after restart. Local storage entries persist until you clear site data or we deploy an expiry routine. Any strictly necessary security cookies issued by our host typically expire within hours or days. If retention periods change, we will update this document.

Your choices

You can use our on-page banner to accept or reject optional cookies where offered. You can also adjust browser settings to block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, or clear stored data for individual sites. Major browsers publish guidance on these controls. Keep in mind that aggressive blocking may interfere with legitimate features. Industry opt-out tools primarily target advertising networks; they may be less relevant to a small editorial site but remain available if you wish to use them.

Do Not Track

There is no uniform legal standard for responding to “Do Not Track” browser signals. We currently do not vary our practices based solely on DNT headers, but we minimise tracking by design and document what we do use.

Updates

If we materially change how cookies are used, we will revise this Policy and may prompt you to review your preferences again where required.
